Postcards from New York City, USA

New York has been my favourite city ever since the first time I visited back in 2008. I’ve dreamt of going back ever since, the surreal excitement this place brings is beyond me. I wish I could have visited again sooner, but I guess 2020 was the year!

Booking this trip felt like a dream, as soon as we stepped off the plane we made our way to the heart of the city, where we were kindly invited to stay at the amazing, Executive Hotel Le Soleil. Being in one of most exciting, beautiful cities on the planet, this hotel matched up perfectly.

Just upon entering the hotel, we were stunned by the beautiful ‘soleil’ inspired carpet pattern and marble stone floors with polished gold hand painted Venetian plaster walls. The hotel reflects a classical boutique concept, French culture and modern architecture. If that wasn’t beautiful enough, we drew back the curtains of our gorgeous Queen Suite on the 13th floor, to find an incredible view of one of the most iconic buildings in NYC, the Empire State Building.

The luxurious bedding, gorgeous decorated interior and warm touch of the hotel, made our trip to NYC everything and more. You can choose from their many luxury rooms on their website, including up on the 16th floor, with the best views of the Empire State Building!

We even dined at their neighbouring restaurant, Trademark Taste & Grind, an American Bistro helmed by Executive Chef Adrienne Guttieri, whose menu is laced with family recipes passed down for generations. We were seated in a cosy, intimate booth, where we began the evening with two organically made cocktails (MUST TRY: Matcha Mama). We had the meatballs as a shared starter, for our mains we had the Italian signature bolognese and a Ribeye steak. To finish, a Brûlée Cheesecake to share, which, just writing this, makes my mouth water.

  • Big Bus Hop-on-Hop-off (Downtown & Uptown)
  • American Museum of Natural History
  • The Empire State Building
  • Top of the Rock Observation Deck
  • Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island
  • 9/11 Memorial & Museum
  • Central Park Zoo
  • Madame Tussauds

On their website, you can have a look at their menu’s, events and also book a table. This restaurant is an absolute MUST, affordable and exceptionally delicious, I can’t wait to visit again in the near future.

There’s SO much to see and do, The New York Pass was the best way for us to explore the city. Offering over 100+ attractions, these were some of the many places we were able to visit and things to do using the pass:

This pass is definitly the perfect way to visit more, for less.

It’s really no surprise that NYC is known as ‘The city that never sleeps’. Home to thousands of restaurants, hundreds of museums, attractions, theatre shows, and quirky things to do.
Times Square is the centre of it all… big, bright and unforgettable. With its flashing neon lights and giant digital billboards, filled with musicians, broadway marques, costumed characters and plenty of shops & restaurants.

Manhattan is one of the five boroughs of New York. We decided to hop across to Brooklyn, where we spent one of our evening at an NBA game in Barclays Centre, where Brooklyn Nets played Orlando Magic. The atmosphere was incredible to say the least, and we’ll definitely be going to more NBA games in the near future!

Thanks to our New York Passes, we finally got the chance to take a ferry to the Statue of Liberty. It wasn’t the sunniest of days, but we were still able to get some amazing views of the of Manhattan and walk around the little island with a coffee at hand and Lady Liberty in all her glory.

On our last full day in the city, we decided to go take a walk across the beautiful oasis of Central Park. We also took the chance to visit the Central Park Zoo where we were greeted by playful seals, grizzly bears and the cutest little red pandas!

All in all, a trip of a lifetime that I would repeat time and time again! There’s just something about this city… it’s filled with such a magical feeling, I can’t possibly explain.

A big thank you to Executive Hotel Le Soleil ☀️ for the best hotel Experince that only made us fall in love with this city even more, we will be back 🏙🗽

Have you ever been to NYC? 🇺🇸

  1. NYC is amazing I live next door in NJ and I love to visit! Definitely a city they never sleeps. I’m always open to new restaurants so I will consider the one you mentioned. I’m glad you were able to experience so much but definitely have to come back for a Broadway 🎭 show and more endless possibilities here
